Riverside
Health Care Facilities Inc.
Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada
IT Implementation
This IT implementation
occurred in 1996/1997 at the RHCFI, a three-site healthcare facility
with 130 beds, $17 Million/year budget, centered in Fort Frances,
Ontario. Heron Technology Corp. (HTC) led a group of nine vendors
[initially], and implemented a hospital-wide IT system based on
a multi-vendor/middleware approach.
The initial cost was
approximately 50% of the single-vendor quotations submitted, and
individual department managers were able to select application software
modules to address their departmental needs - and within their departmental
budget.
The HISTORICAL
selection criteria were:
- What VENDOR
do we have to deal with?
- What programming LANGUAGE
is specified?
- What hardware PLATFORM
is required?
- What OPERATING
SYSTEM is specified?
THE
ABOVE WERE "NOT" MANDATORY SELECTION CRITERIA -
ONLY OPTIONAL
|
The fundamental selection criteria
were:
- Does the
product have the required USER FUNCTIONALITY?
- Is the cost
within the
DEPARTMENTAL/HOSPITAL BUDGET?
